Robert's Retirement Message
After nearly 13 years as Rector of Cobham and Stoke D’Abernon, including 7 as Rural Dean, I have decided to retire at the end of January 2017. I am 65 this year and feel it is time to step out of full-time ministry. My ministry in Cobham and Stoke D’Abernon has been a real joy to me and I feel we have a great deal to be thankful for. I am incredibly grateful for the wonderful people I have shared ministry with and for those we have served, both within the church, and in the wider community. We have flourished as a church family at St Andrew’s, and St Mary’s is also in good heart.
Typically in this diocese an interregnum lasts around eight months. In the meantime the churchwardens, supported by the Area Dean, and the ministry team, will take responsibility for the parishes.
We ask for God’s guidance and blessing on our benefice as it prepares for a new phase in its leadership. Together we pray for the clergy, churchwardens, parish offices and PCCs as they prepare for the interregnum, and for Ann and myself as we begin a new phase in our lives.
