Journey with us during Lent
"Lent" comes from the Old English word for Spring - the days lengthen and more light comes into our daily lives.
Let more of God's Light into your life this Lent.
The best thing to "give up" is something that enables us to spend more time with God or thinking about God, maybe something that distracts us or some time to come to our sessions on "The Bible Course" on Wednesdays or use the Pilgrim Journeys reflection on Beatitudes available in church, or use the App or daily emails available here.
The Bible Course - Twice on Wednesdays
We have adapted the Bible Society course on exploring the big story of the Bible. It is for anyone who wants to know what the Bible has to stay as a whole, to see the “Big Story” of our “Big God”. Whether you have studied the Bible for many years, or you are just starting to read it there will be plenty for you to enjoy in the course.
No prior Bible knowledge required. Our Lent Group will be accessible and interactive, it will enhance and inform your ongoing Bible study, whether you are new to the Bible or want to go deeper. Using a storyline, the course shows how the key events, books and characters all fit together. You’ll get to see the BIG picture and discover how the Bible applies to your life.
For the five weeks from 13th March, the same
course will be run twice each Wednesday in St Andrew's Church, firstly at 11:30am
to 1:00pm and then repeated at 7:30pm to 9:00pm. You can "mix and match" and come to either.
Lent Pilgrim - 40 days of reflection on the Beatitudes
Whether an App on your phone, daily emails or a paper booklet is your preferred media, you can join in with following the Lent Pilgrim journey which this year (2019) is based on "the Beatitudes" - a speech by Jesus in which used a series of "Blessed are the ... " statements to challenge people's values and thinking.
Just a few minutes each day during Lent will be such a blessing to you. www.churchofengland.org/lent
