At long last - I have seen for myself

At the end of January we are thinking about Jesus' parents taking him to the temple in Jerusalem as required by the law, They were greeted on arrival by two senior citizens whom it seems had been waiting for that moment for many years. The first was man called Simeon who took the boy into his arms and gave thanks to God saying that now he could go in peace for "my eyes have seen your salvation". His words to Mary were chilling, "a sword will pierce your side also", I wonder what she made of that.

The second was a lady called called Anna. When she saw them she praised God and starting speaking about the child "to all who were looking for the redemption of Israel".

How will we react when we see Jesus face to face?

Our Old Testament Reading warns us about the judgement to come against those who swear falsely, oppress wages, oppress widows and orphans and who thrust aside the alien. Read it for yourself in Malachi chapter 3.                                          DG
